Marble Valley Regional Transit District

Marble Valley Regional Transit District (MVRTD), known as “The Bus”, celebrates twenty-six years providing service in Rutland County. The Bus logoThe Transit District is the largest non-urban public transportation system in the State of Vermont and provided approximately 728,000 rides this year.

MVRTD supplies transportation to the general public, providing fixed route service in Rutland City and surrounding towns, the resort communities of Mendon and Killington, and links Amtrak’s Ethan Allen Express to the Killington and Okemo resort areas. MVRTD has an extensive paratransit service throughout Rutland County. MVRTD operates a free commuter service to Wallingford, Danby and Manchester with connections to Bennington, and last year instituted another free commuter service to West Rutland, Center Rutland, Castleton and Fair Haven, allowing workers broad access to employment opportunities.

MVRTD is an important asset to all the communities it serves and also garners support from a population of riders who are committed to the environmental benefits of public transit use.Passenger exiting Marble Valley Transit Through its participation in the Vermont Rideshare program, MVRTD has “saved” over half a million-vehicle miles in the last 12 months by providing car pool options.

MVRTD’s transportation service to eligible Medicaid and Reach-Up recipients provided nearly 30,000 rides this year. Complementary paratransit services are available for those individuals with disabilities that prevent the use of fixed route service.
